Baseball

Free burgers. That's what got me to the game.
Free admission, too -- for the whole family.
The Big Empty in the left field stands.
Not much happening.
Kids run up and down the aisles.
My 2 year old gets folded up and stuck in her chair.
Her cries rise with Queen's Rock You anthem.
Lots of inactivity punctuated by moments of game.
Crack! Flyball to center field. Broken bat goes spinning down 3rd baseline.
Why am I here?
To rest.
To be.
To embrace life.
The summer evening cools past sunset.
We make our way out of the ballpark
under the stadium lights
to the car, through the city
home.
